BA(Hons) Dip CNM mBANT rCHNC mANP
I completed my BA in Architecture at Kingston University, London.
I've had a varied career in local government, sustainability and environmental education in the public sector, before my lifelong interest in food and natural remedies finally led me to my calling in nutritional therapy.
I completed the DipCNM 3-year diploma from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London to become a qualified nutritional therapist. These studies brought together traditional medicine with current research-based nutrition.
I am a member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT). BANT set the standard of excellence in science-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine. They require their members to maintain the highest standards and keep their knowledge up to date.
I'm a registered nutritional therapist with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). CNHC regulates complementary therapists in the UK and registered practitioners must abide by a Code of Conduct, Ethics and Performance.
I'm also a member of the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners (ANP). The ANP only accept suitably qualified nutritional therapists, and members abide by a Code of Ethics.
In my clinic, the advice is to keep it simple. Eat whole foods, organic (where budget allows), and focus on variety and inclusion, rather than restriction. My goal, through recipe suggestions, meal plans and health and wellness advice, is to help simplify meal times and inspire you to enjoy tasty food that is good for you, without counting a single calorie.
All the systems of the body are interconnected. Without taking a holistic, person-centred approach, you will not be able to identify the root cause of ill-health.
I believe strongly in treating the whole body and not just symptoms. A personalised, achievable nutrition and lifestyle plan can help you take control of symptoms and live your healthiest life.
You could say I'm a bit of a gut geek, but the gut is truly a fascinating place that occupies most of my research into nutritional health.
Billions of microorganisms live in our intestines and our 'friendly bacteria' are vital for good health. Achieving balance in the gut is key to a whole range of issues. When it is out of balance, you can experience bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhoea, heartburn, weight changes, autoimmune conditions, food intolerances, mood disorders and skin irritations.
My goal is to help you achieve optimal gut health, as I believe this is often the root cause of most illness.
Diet, exercise and lifestyle need to be balanced to achieve optimal health. Excess of any of these pillars can cause our systems to become imbalanced. Our bodies are great at letting us know - we just have to listen.
My focus is on educating you in ways to incorporate healthy eating and exercise into your lifestyle and create an individualised plan to achieve your goals.
